Skilled Labourer

Job Description:
The Labourer is responsible for providing assistance to the directional driller and Supervisors in completing their assigned tasks. The skilled labourer willwork with a driller to install conduit underground using horizontal directional drilling equipment and locating devices.
 
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for locating the drill head during drilling operation
- Potholing
- Operate various digging equipment, assist the driller with operation of the drill
- Accurately complete progress forms, project activity reports and all other documentation pertaining to work assignments
- Safely work in streets and alleys as well as other work conditions including manholes, ditches and other excavations
- Operate crew vehicles, drilling equipment, various equipment and conduit trailers, backhoe/mini-excavator, core drilling equipment and other tools and equipment normally used in horizontal directional drilling activities
- Familiar with proper safety equipment and instruct new trainees in the proper use of the equipment and installation per the design
- Follows safety regulations
- Maintain clean work environment
- Move and organize materials on the work sit
- Perform general errands as assigned by the on-site Supervisor and/or Heavy Equipment Operator
- Perform traffic control at the work site (flagging
- Operate basic hand tools and power tool
- Provide manual labour assistance on various tasks and assignment
- Perform other related duties as assigned
 
Working Conditions:
- Physically strenuous and demanding job, including lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects. Must be able to lift 100 pounds on a consistent basis
- Work is performed outside in all weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
- May include exposure to dangerous substances and the employee must take necessary precautions to protect self from irritation and infection.
- Willingness and ability to travel out of town to perform work as necessary
- Must provide own steel toe boots.
 
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Knowledge of and ability to operate basic hand and power tools in a safe and responsible manner
- Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedure
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills
- Must demonstrate the following personal attributes: honest and trustworthy, respectful, flexible, and have sound work ethics
 
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
 
Salary: $22.00 to $26.00 /hr
 
Experience:
- Construction labouring: 5 years (Preferred)
 
Location:

Licence:
- Valid Drivers License (Preferred)
